Using a T4 Eurovan headlight switch and a Mk2 headlight switch, I swapped the switch faces to make a 'corrado' switch for my a2 golf with corrado dash
long ago my corrado headlight switch stopped working, but the mk2 one drops in so I didn't bother trying to fix the old one and now I don't know where it is. A new / used switch is kind of a rip off and these cars are getting harder to find in the junkyards
I learned that the Eurovan / T4 transporter came with the same style switches as Corrado / Passat, and I had some time tonight to try and swap the switch faces and make a better looking switch for my car. I used a T4 eurovan switch, but I have a strong feeling the process is similar for a b3 or b4 passat switch, and those cars are easy enough to find in the junkyards
What you need:
Mk2 headlight switch - later model, working
Eurovan / B4 Passat (?) headlight switch
*Possibly Fog Light Switch B4/Corrado/Etc.
small flathead screwdriver
7/64 or 1/8" or MM equivalent Drill Bits
hobby knife / pocket knife
super glue
You're could easily ruin two headlight switches, so take your time and remember plastic can crack so be gentle.

the first real step is to pry the casing apart using a very small flathead screwdriver. the mk2 switch has 4 tabs, the T4 switch had 6

The switch face snaps into the casing through 2 holes, the Mk2 switch 'arms' are a little bit shorter, so the plastic contact piece needs to be modified. Use the contact piece from the Mk2 housing, as it is 3 positions (look at the grooves on the bottom and compare them to the T4/etc one)

the first problem you'll find trying to swap switch faces is that the hole is too small in the mk2 housing. I just held the 7/64 and 1/8" bits in my hand and opened the hole, trying to open it more on the top side

Here you can see some plastic was removed by trail an error, basically just trying to make the inside of the new switch face look like that of the mk2 and to make the mk2 switch housing look like that of the T4 - do this long enough and everything will line up and work more or less

The new switch face has a green 'prism' inside that illuminates when switched on. The mk2 switch housing has to be modified to make room for this prism to pivot (a plastic cross piece is removed)

glue / fix the green piece of plastic for the Headlight Icon. You can use the one from the mk2 switch after it's narrowed

You need to modify the black plastic slider with the contacts (when the switch is pushed this piece slides back and forth). The arms from the 'corrado' style switch face are longer than the mk2 piece, so the housing won't close unless the 'contact slider piece' is modified. Trim some plastic so the arms sit deeper in the piece, and remove some plastic from the very top edge. Then the housing will close and you'll have 3 positions as the mk2 switch requires.
below is a picture of where to deepen the groove

I'll try to add a more thorough description if there's some interest. Sorry if this has been covered before, I'm sure someone has tried it - but I couldn't find anything and wanted to share.
I don't have any pictures of the corrado switch for comparison, but there is a difference in the dimmer knob... but most of your friends won't notice.
last step would be to change that dimmer knob to the corrado etc. style
